Established in 1982, the Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix is recognized as one of Japan’s most prestigious and historically significant awards in the fashion industry. Starting this year, the award has partnered with Tokyo Creative Salon to step up its global outreach in earnest. This program looks back on the journey of the Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix — which has spent over 40 years documenting and evaluating Japanese creativity. Through a special exhibition tracing the history and evolution of Japanese fashion since the 1980s, it unravels how Japanese fashion has resonated with and responded to society and the times.
