Matsuya’s Regional Co-Creation: Japanese Spring × TOKYO CREATIVE SALON

Denim × Embroidery Adorn the Windows — Spring at Matsuya Ginza

The store windows of Matsuya Ginza will feature a dynamic display where the craft traditions of Japan converge. “Denim” from Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture — its vivid character drawn out through discharge printing techniques — meets “embroidery” from Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, with 1,300 years of history and a distinctively delicate, three-dimensional quality. Two production regions carrying on their respective traditions come together to convey the essence of Japanese craftsmanship. A souvenir tote bag made from upcycled denim — warp threads recovered from denim that would have otherwise been discarded by Fukuyama City denim producers, returned to a cotton state and respun into new yarn before being woven — will also be given away. Plus, a keyword rally game and other fun, educational events.
